George Bower
I'm a Trainee Human Needs Psychotherapist under the supervision of the Human Givens Institute, a body regulated for Psychotherapy and Counselling by the UK Professional Standards Authority. The PSA also regulates the BACP and others, and HGI is a member of the SCoPEd Framework which sets common professional standards across the main Psychotherapy bodies.
I work under the supervision of a senior accredited Psychotherapist and work in private practice and with GP surgeries to help people with the Emotional and Mental Health concerns. I work with Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Burnout, Phobias, Grief & Loss, Disordered Eating, Insomnia and other distressing situations. I've also helped people with coping strategies in life situations involving fertility treatment, neurodiversity in the workplace and living with a family member who has special needs or behavioural problems.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Interpersonal Counselling (2020) and in 2023 passed with Human Givens Diploma in Psychotherapy. I have also undertaken training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Insomnia and Chronic Sleep Disruption, Relationship Coaching, Positive Psychology Coaching, Bereavement Counselling and in The Mind-Body Connection. I have a keen interest in Neuroscience and the Biological Basis of Emotional Wellbeing and am an Associate Member of the British Neuroscience Association (BNA).
Prior to training in Counselling and Psychotherapy I had a career in Business and Financial Services and advise businesses on areas of Financial Wellbeing and Workforce Wellbeing.
Away from work I am a father and grandfather, a keen musician and and pretty much everyday you’ll find me out getting my 10,000 steps in outside in the great Chilterns countryside with my two dogs.
